Morning Ink turns 2 – Cambridge Satchel Giveaway

This blog turned 2 today, and I can’t believe I’ve committed to something this long. It’s still such a baby, and will probably never mature much (just like its creator), which is good because I am sticking to what I like.

I had a long buzzed Skype conversation the other night about successful bloggers, and what appeals to the businesses and women in my city and country. I sometimes feel like I would be more appealing if I incorporated trendy clothing, had vibrant photos and used hashtags on Instagram such as #SundayFunday and #obsessed. Not to say the people who do these things are silly, I just know it’s relatable and fun for bloggers. But I like my recycled wardrobe, faded photos and calling myself out for taking staged photos on staircases for Instagram. Get ready to want to punch me in the jaw, but this is my style. Deprecation, and the same jacket I’ve been wearing for 3 years.

Endure these photos and stay until the end for a little giveaway.

So yes, I adore this satchel. It’s not a secret considering I’ve worn it here, here, here, and here. It’s the nicest thing I’ve ever bought myself, and the company has such a charming history. Considering how much I adore my bag, I would like to give one away. This one is a much smaller version of mine, but more functional as an everyday crossbody.

As a way to continue to earn visitors in my blog’s early stages, this little giveaway is open to all U.S. residents. To win, follow me on Instagram at morning_ink and “like” the photo of this prize. If you do not have Instagram, or just don’t want to follow and like, feel free to leave a comment on this blog post letting me know how you’ve changed in the past two years, and the best way to contact you (email, social media, etc). Maybe your hair is different, or you now have a college degree. Let me know. You can also follow and like on Instagram and comment on this post for two entries.

Thank you for visiting Morning Ink, and good luck!

Open to U.S. residents only. Giveaway winner will receive a new Cambridge Satchel Co. “The Tiny Satchel” valued at $85 USD. Participants must be following me on Instagram at morning_ink and “like” the first giveaway announcement photo, or leave a comment on the giveaway blog post. Giveaway ends Monday, Oct. 26. The winner will be privately notified Oct. 27. If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be selected. Once a winner has responded, an announcement will be made on my blog and social media. I am in no way sponsored by Cambridge Satchel Co. The prize was completely purchased by me. It may not be redeemed for cash. I am not responsible for any damage to the bag that may occur during shipping.

Gingham + a book idea

The length of this gingham skirt is a more mature version of the skater skirts I’ve accumulated over the years. Maybe it’s the drama of a full skirt or my unwillingness to shave above my knees, but the longer length and shape is so much more flattering.

I’ve finally started writing my book again. I’ve had several ideas for a YA comedy novel in my head, but when I finally sat down and started to write, I realized that I have more to say about being a 20-something foul-mouthed beer drinker. I like where this plot is going, and I may share a link to my Wattpad page when I have several (unedited) chapters finished.

I also plan to add more videos to my YouTube channel, and I’ve been brainstorming ways to make it stand out. I want to incorporate the “ink” part of my site name into this hobby more, and I think snippets of my writing coupled with videos about style and self-image will work well together. God, I don’t know. We’ll see how this goes.

With age

Does this trench make me look 26? I realized the other night that I will be 26 in less than two months, and that’ll put me closer to 30 than 20. I still remember making dresses out of socks for my Barbies and writing about the boys I liked in my 6th grade class in my Lisa Frank journal. When did I become an adult?

Apparently there was something really interesting going on to my right. Or I need to work on my posing. I went a good 10 minutes switching positions before I noticed an AT&T mechanic was watching from his truck.

Is it only Wednesday?
