Gravity, hypocrisy and the perils of being in 3-D

If I can’t wear pants or leggings, I can wear dark colors. I’ve always liked wearing jewel tones because they compliment my skin color and are the next best thing to black. Fall means maroons and plums, and I am not hesitating to add them into my current summer wardrobe as a transition.

This dress is an old favorite. I was so excited when I bought it because I had recently lost 70 pounds and had always dreamed of fitting into a Hollister dress, as sad as that sounds. My teenage brain was convinced that only skinny pretty girls shopped at stores like Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch, but here I am.

Also, if there is a fan club for Revlon Matte Balms, sign me up. These things are heaven sent for lip-licking girls such as myself. “Sultry” is a muted deep rose and oh so creamy and pigmented. I need one in an eggplant shade. Get on it, Revlon.

Follow the white rabbit

I secretly wish I were Zooey Deschanel.

There. I said it.

I just adore her and her hair, eyes, voice and most importantly, her clothes. I couldn’t resist this rabbit top when I saw it online at eShakti. It reminds me so much of her style. And it has rabbits. RABBITS.

I received this item from eShakti, a website that allows you to customize and tailor pieces to your measurements and personal style. This shirt was originally a tank, but I was able to have cap sleeves added, and it was altered to fit my height. Their sizes range from 0-36W, something I deeply appreciate. Fashion should not be limited to size, and I value this store’s mission to accommodate individual bodies and styles.

I highly recommend checking out eShakti and playing around with their customization features. Use the code ‘inkes’ to take 10% off your order until 07/27/14. And while you’re at it, check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Social media!

Also, I have a new theme. Oooooh. Aaaahh.

Little daylight

Despite waiting in thunderstorms for the bus and not being able to escape the smell of urine on the train, my morning commute has been a little sweeter thanks to ‘Where’d you go, Bernadette?’ by Maria Semple. Semple used to write for Arrested Development, which is very evident in this novel. If you like stories with an unconventional structure and quick wit, you’ll love this book.

“Grace said, “I’m bored.” “Yeah,” Bee mimicked, “I’m bored.” Bernadette pulled the car over, took off her seat belt, and turned around. “That’s right,” she told the girls. “You’re bored. And I’m going to let you in on a little secret about life. You think it’s boring now? Well, it only gets more boring. The sooner you learn it’s on you to make life interesting, the better off you’ll be.”

If there’s anything I love more than circle skirts, it’s a new pair of Vans.

My mom gave me this necklace for Easter and I absolutely love it (thanks, Mom!) because it looks like my little Wesley when he has his full coat in the winter. He recently got his summer cut so he’s a short-haired boy.

I love this little guy so much.

Blood was shed while rolling up the sleeves on this jacket. I sliced my left middle finger open last night and didn’t realize I was bleeding all over myself while struggling to roll up my sleeves. If you look closely on the right sleeve, you may see my internal fluids. Cute.

Have a great Monday (blech) and thank you for reading
