Stay out all day

Dark layers make me happy.

Jacket: American Eagle (similar)
Top: Gap
Jeans: American Eagle
Boots: Urban Outfitters (similar)
Watch: Michael Kors
Ring: Modcloth

I wore these boots a lot last fall/winter, and I refuse to let them go. I like the idea of having a capsule wardrobe with pieces that last for years and are always in style. The straps across the front and hint of gold hardware on the back make it a perfect, sensible-yet-interesting boot.

I bought this jacket near the end of spring this year so I’m happy that it will now get to be worn through the cold season. It’s also great at making it look like you’re a car thief, because a concerned woman came out to question why I was standing so near her car while taking these photos. As if Houston thieves wear jeggings. Please.

Remember spring swaps snow for leaves

It hardly ever snows in Houston, but the song “Winter Winds” by Mumford and Sons is my winter into spring transition anthem.

Houston has been in spring mode for the past couple of weeks, but I waited until it was officially spring to bust out MY FAVORITE DRESS OF ALL TIME.

Dress: American Eagle (I love this neon skater dress)
Cardigan: Target
Shoes: Target
Bag: Cambridge Satchel Co.
Bracelet: Forever 21
Earrings: Forever 21

It has pockets! It’s bright! I wore it when I met Elliott Morgan who is one of my favorite people ever!

That is all.

Have a great Friday (woo!) and thank you for reading.

Faces and condensation

My love for Houston’s warmth is gone. Sunny skies and cool wind has been replaced with fog and humidity. I rather wear a coat than have to reapply deodorant at work. It’s not cute.

Shirt: American Eagle (similar here)
Skirt: Hollister (similar here)
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Ring: Forever 21 (similar here)

A little bit of gloom, a little bit school girl uniform. This white button up from AE is one of my favorites because it’s such a lightweight breathable piece. I was inspired by the large window in my living room and the overcast sky to play with lighting and shadow in these photos. It’s a little different, but I like it.

Have a great Tuesday and thank you for reading.

High of 75

It’s unusually warm in Texas. My mind is telling me February but my body is telling me March. It feels like spring and I love it.

Shirt: Daily Look (I love this silk version)
Skirt: Forever 21 (similar here)
Shoes: Vans
Watch: Michael Kors

Vans and Converse are my summer shoe of choice. I’ve never been a fan of sandals or flip flops, so I’m usually seen in a pair of sneakers and a skirt. I’ve missed this floral skirt over the winter months and can’t wait to add it to my regular rotation. It’s my lifeblood.

What are you excited to dig out of your closet for the warmer months?

Have a great Monday and thank you for reading.

Lavender Brown

Another Harry Potter reference. Are you even surprised?

Speaking of which, I just found out yesterday that I can become an associate of a college at Rice University, one of which calls themselves Slytherin. Yes? Yes.

Shirt: Urban Outfitters (same cut, similar print here)
Cardigan: American Eagle
Pants: J.Crew
Boots: Delia’s
Necklace: My grandma’s

It’s still only January but Houston doesn’t care. It’s been in the low 70’s so in my mind, it’s spring. I’ll use any excuse to wear floral.

Have an amazing Saturday and thank you for reading.

Infinitely Interesting

That’s the domain I originally wanted to purchase for my blog: infinitely interesting.

Not only is it a lyric from one of my favorite Incubus songs, it describes what I strive to be. As a writer and comedy enthusiast, I look for different ways to be interesting. I’m constantly inspired by the women of YouTube who create such beautiful videos, whether it be a makeup tutorial, styling video, or short sketch. I am also enamored by female writers and anyone who shares who they are online. It’s a scary place.

I decided on the name “Morning Ink” thanks to Incubus’s album Morning View. It’s a great album and one I highly recommend for budding writers. It inspired quite a few stories in my youth. I decided on “Ink” because I’m a writer.

Ok, outfit time.

Tank: Gap (similar here)
Cardigan: American Eagle
Skirt: American Eagle (similar here)
Shoes: Sam Edelman (simple gold version here) (snake print)
Necklace: Baublebar (similar here)

I wouldn’t take this Baublebar necklace off to save my life. It’s so pretty. I wish I could buy one for all of you but sadly it’s no longer available on the website.

Wearing pleated chambray and a floral tank may seem a little too premature for spring, but it’s only in the 70’s today! Houston has had (frustratingly) weird weather lately. I hate love it.

Have a great Sunday and thank you for reading.
