I can’t believe I’ve been at my new job for a month. I’ve definitely been playing around with my work outfits more and getting creative with my limited business casual wardrobe.

Can you tell I just got off of work?
I played with patterns and textures today. The striped pattern is bold enough to pair with the smaller wool knit on the skirt. I balanced the black collar of the sweater with a large necklace, and kept my tights and shoes neutral. I was skeptical about my outfit as I was heading out the door, but the more I shamelessly looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, the more I liked it.
I am tired of wearing dark colors though. Come to me, spring!

Hello. I’m freezing.
The blog Substance AND Style is hosting a fun “Dress Up Friday” theme with a few other blogs. I was graciously invited to include my own outfit, so here it is. It may be below freezing outside, but I’m in heels!

This dress is short. I have no choice but to wear tights with it to spare the public. I paired it with my favorite (and warm) blazer that I picked up in the juniors section of Macy’s because I have age acceptance issues.
I love statement necklaces and I need more of them. I was always weary of having a chandelier around my neck, but now I see the appeal. You can pair them with a $5 dress you plucked off the clearance rack and KAPOW. You have a nice outfit to sit at home in. Just me? Just me.
Have a fancy Friday and thank you for reading!
Is anyone else thankful that the high-low trend has nearly ended? I’m seeing less mullet skirts and dresses on my favorite clothing websites and it is a huge relief.
With that said, I think this shirt is an exception. You forget that the hem hangs longer in the back because it’s so clever. The unexpected pleated chiffon adds a little something special to an otherwise boring maroon t-shirt. I paired it with my tweed miniskirt that I bought at the Macy’s downtown Houston before they tragically tore it down.

“Isn’t Delia’s a store for juniors?” Yes, I know, I’ve heard it before. Can’t stop, won’t stop.
Have a great Monday and thank you for reading.
