Nude tights aren’t just for old ladies!

German women love to wear jeans. Skinny jeans, ankle jeans, boyfriend, etc. in blue, black or white. Skirts, dresses and heels almost seem forgotten in the city of Cologne, and I assumed it was a “European thing”…until I visited Paris last November.

Not only did I see more women in mini skirts, dresses and heels, but they also wore nude pantyhose! I abandoned sheer nude hosiery in my early teenage years after reading diss after diss about them in Teen Vogue and Seventeen Magazine. I certainly didn’t want to be associated with anything deemed “dowdy” and “outdated.”

BUT THEN PARIS HAPPENED.

Gah, bare legs in February? Nah brah, nude pantyhose! I like black tights, but I don’t like how they look with light-colored shoes. I couldn’t wait to wear these boots with bare legs, so I bought a few cheap pairs of nude pantyhose at Primark to try the look.

First off, my legs were warm. I am wearing a 20 denier pair in these photos, which is thinner than my typical black pairs, but in 46 degrees Fahrenheit, 8 degrees Celsius weather, I felt fine. I received some confused looks from passersby, but that may have also been because I was on a giant metal dock taking photos of myself.

This pair was especially tight, which I’ve read is ideal to avoid sagging. No one wants to look like they have wrinkly ankles. I had to be especially careful when putting them on because the last pair I bought to try this little “experiment” ripped as soon as I tried to fit the control top over my beer gut. My finger went straight through it, resulting in a run reaching all the way to my knee. Not cute.

This isn’t the last time you’ll see me in nude tights this winter and spring. I already know I will integrate this Parisian trick into my wardrobe. I think as long as I stay away from tweed suits and pearls, I should be fine?
