And then it rained.

I may need to trade these wedges for a pair of rain boots, and this dress for a pint of ice cream and Friends on Netflix.

I’m still struggling with my new lens. My viewfinder makes it look like everything is clear until I review my photos on my computer. Do any of you take your own photos? How do you focus on yourself? I’ve seen some people set an object on the ground where you’ll stand, focus the camera and then just stand where the object was.

Or I could ask my boyfriend to take my photohahahahahaha. Yeah, I couldn’t even finish typing that. As if that would work.

“How many photos do we need to take?!”

As many as it takes to not look like a drunk oyster in 15 consecutive shots.

Overcast

I should definitely be wearing a jacket in this photo because in an actual stunning turn of events, Houston is so chilly.

This pretty little top was designed by Chelsea from the blog Zipped and is sold through Elegantees. Chelsea quickly became one of my favorite style bloggers after I stumbled across her photos in a Google search for pixie pants. I really like bloggers with an attainable sense of style for the normal working girl, which you will definitely find on Zipped.

So ruffly. So gray. So perfect for this cloudy, cold weather. I can’t wait to wear it with my own pair of pixie pants and a leather jacket.

I would also like to point out that the charms on my bracelet are made out of 12 gauge bullets. It’s good to know that I have friends who see bullet jewelry and immediately think of me. I’m just so hardcore (no, I’m not).

Cherry lips, crystal skies

Taylor Swift lyrics as my blog title post. Yeah, that’s right.

Total deja vu with today’s outfit. Maybe because it looks like the pants version of this one. Sew orig.

The sheer panel on the shoulders of this tee is the perfect amount of edge on an otherwise plain tee. Note to self: Don’t wear a hot pink bra next time I wear this shirt. So visible, so tacky.

Bad blood

One of my main objectives when shopping for outerwear is to pick pieces with an interesting shape and minimal frills. I gravitate towards moto and utility jackets because moto cuts usually have sharp lapels and flat buttons and utility cuts have cinched waists and a longer length to elongate the torso. A peacoat doesn’t work on my apple-shaped body because they usually look too square, and straight coats that hit the knee make me look short.

This jacket creates an interesting shape when open, and conceals my larger tummy and broad shoulders. I think the triangular shape of the hem creates a narrower torso, and just looks so damn cool. Like, let’s go to London and have beers at a pub after we attend this underground rock concert in an abandoned warehouse cool.

God that sounds fun.

Prepare to see a lot of these Sam & Libby boots. I can’t seem to take them off. High school Leah would be proud of adult Leah right now.

This cardigan makes me feel like Miss Cleo and I am completely down with that. It’s wonderfully soft and thin, which is perfect for Houston’s crisp mornings and cool evenings.

This floral skirt is an old favorite, and I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. Grace Helbig herself has complimented it. C’mon.

I’m going to California next week and I can’t wait to photograph my adventure. I’ve been planning my cold weather outfits since Oakland and San Francisco are freaking chilly right now. Time to bust out my over-the-knee socks and boots.

My boyfriend and I helped rescue a dog that had been abandoned at my apartments yesterday. The chilly air reminds me that there are so many animals out there who are homeless and suffer during the cold months. I’m happy we were able to help this puppy find a home, but I am disgusted by those who are able to turn their back on an innocent animal. I hope I can help more of them in the future, but for now I am spoiling my Westie and letting him know that he will be loved until the day he is no longer with us.

Hug your pets. They’re the best.

Against the grain

So, because I am still learning how to use my DSLR, these pictures came out unintentionally grainy, but I kind of like it. I think it enhances my 90’s grunge vibe.

This outfit reminds me of something they would have worn on All That or the early years of Boy Meets World. These Sam and Libby boots are on the verge of looking Amish, but have the right amount of military feel. I can’t wait to wear them with over-the-knee socks and tights.

Alright, time to read more about ISO. Stupid grain.
