At twilight.

I recently posted on Instagram that it is impossible to wear jackets in the summer in Houston, but here I am doing it anyway. It’s not so bad when the sun goes down…and when you ignore the bra and back sweat.

Dress: Gap
Jacket: American Eagle
Flats: Payless
Bag: Cambridge Satchel Co.
Necklace: Forever 21
Ring: H&M

This jacket and satchel are two of my favorite items in my closet. I never get tired of wearing them, and they always get compliments. I need more pieces like this. I get sucked into the need to have fast fashion, when I should instead take the time and care to pick items that will survive seasons and trends.

Keep it real.

A storm is settling in, so I tied my beloved jean jacket around my waist to add visual interest and texture to my skirt, and to act as a butt shield. No exposed underwear for me today.

If you’re someone who likes skirts or dresses with pockets, then I highly recommend a thin jacket tied around your waist this spring and summer. The pockets on my jacket hung perfectly on my side, and helped hold my guitar pick and remote inbetween shooting photos. It was a convenience I didn’t expect to have. Aw yeah, functional style.

Happy Mother’s Day!

This cardigan makes me feel like Miss Cleo and I am completely down with that. It’s wonderfully soft and thin, which is perfect for Houston’s crisp mornings and cool evenings.

This floral skirt is an old favorite, and I can’t bring myself to get rid of it. Grace Helbig herself has complimented it. C’mon.

I’m going to California next week and I can’t wait to photograph my adventure. I’ve been planning my cold weather outfits since Oakland and San Francisco are freaking chilly right now. Time to bust out my over-the-knee socks and boots.

Follow the white rabbit

I secretly wish I were Zooey Deschanel.

There. I said it.

I just adore her and her hair, eyes, voice and most importantly, her clothes. I couldn’t resist this rabbit top when I saw it online at eShakti. It reminds me so much of her style. And it has rabbits. RABBITS.

I received this item from eShakti, a website that allows you to customize and tailor pieces to your measurements and personal style. This shirt was originally a tank, but I was able to have cap sleeves added, and it was altered to fit my height. Their sizes range from 0-36W, something I deeply appreciate. Fashion should not be limited to size, and I value this store’s mission to accommodate individual bodies and styles.

I highly recommend checking out eShakti and playing around with their customization features. Use the code ‘inkes’ to take 10% off your order until 07/27/14. And while you’re at it, check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Social media!

Also, I have a new theme. Oooooh. Aaaahh.

The Williams Waterwall is a must-see place if you ever visit Houston. It sits opposite the Williams Tower, the third tallest building in Houston. My boyfriend and I took advantage of today’s beautiful weather and ventured out to the wall, our bellies full of sushi from lunch.

Today has definitely been better than yesterday. I found out that my brother and sister-in-law are expecting their fourth child! New babies are always exciting. Perhaps this will stop everyone from asking when I’m going to get married/pregnant 🙂

Have a great Saturday and thank you for reading.
