Divergent: Tori Wu inspired makeup

I am doing two Divergent looks inspired by one of my favorite characters in the book, Tori Wu.

She just looks like a bad ass. Today I have recreated one of her hair and makeup looks from the movie so I can pretend to be half as cool.

Her look is a much edgier version of a neutral eye and lip, and her hair gives the illusion of a shaved side part. I recreated the look using products from my new Divergent palette because let’s be honest, I wasn’t going to do a Divergent giveaway and not get anything for myself from the collection. Limited edition = need to buy it.

From left to right: NARS Pro-Prime Eyeshadow Base, Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, Maybelline Rocket Mascara, Make Up For Ever Concealer in 5, Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked, Buxom Foundation in Meet Me Latte, Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Dark Brown, Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder, Divergent Collector’s Palette.

I used Luminous Taupe (middle eyeshadow) all over my eyelid and blended Envious Chocolate (right) into my crease and smudged it along my top lash line. I highlighted the inner corners of my eye with Candor Lace (left) and contoured and added blush with Compassionate Copper and Rosy Horizon. I finished the look with Artistic Mauve over Naked. The lip gloss and bronzer are definitely my favorite in this palette. Both are extremely pigmented and the lip gloss is far from sticky.

Do you plan on dressing up as your favorite Divergent character for the premiere? Who would you choose?

Next week I am doing a Tori inspired outfit. Time to bust out all my black.

Have a great Thursday and thank you for reading.

Oh hey. It’s a pretty nice day today.

Much outfit. How blue. Wow. It is insanely gorgeous outside today so I thought I would match the sky. We’re total twinsies.

Today’s Makeup

Keeping it neutral today with my favorite Urban Decay palette. Spoiler alert: It’s not a Naked palette.

From left to right: Sephora Kohl Pencil in Mystic Purple, NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm in 215, Revlon ColorStay Foundation in 240 Medium Beige, Benefit They’re Real! Mascara, Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, Urban Decay Ammo Palette, Pixi Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched, MAC Blush in Peachy Keen, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 012 Buff Beige, Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Dark Brown

I was excited to try my new purple eyeliner and it did not disappoint. I rarely like to wear black eyeliner anymore because it can be too harsh. This kohl pencil from Sephora was a total steal for only $8.

This gloss balm is very pigmented, but I only applied a small amount to tint my lips. I’ve been licking my lips a lot this winter and didn’t want to waste a good lipstick. I’m glued to my Nivea lip butter as a back up.

I love my Urban Decay Ammo Palette, and I’m eager to try the Naked 3 palette. Do any of you have it? What’s your review?

Today’s Makeup

Today’s work outfit was a blank slate of black and grey so I wore a pink pout with bright cheeks. It worked, trust me.

From left to right: Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Blush in Beach Please, Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, Sephora Eyeliner in Flashy Black Purple, NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Cordura, Covergirl Lipstick in 380 Dazzle, Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 240 Medium Beige (not pictured), Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 012 Buff Beige (not pictured)

I kept my eye neutral using the lighter shade of my favorite NARS Eyeshadow Duo to sweep into my crease and add definition to my eye. I lined my eyes with dark purple liner, which looks beautiful against brown eyes, and painted my lips with one of my favorite Covergirl lipsticks. It has a subtle sheen with small iridescent flecks of lilac and fuchsia.

How do you combat a dull outfit day?

Makeup and glasses

My initial thought before taking these photos was, “Should I take my glasses off for this?”

I rarely see blogs featuring women who wear glasses on a daily basis showcasing their makeup. I often have to search for makeup tutorials on YouTube and other makeup blogs for “makeup for glasses” tips. So, naturally, I decided against it.

2From left to right: Revlon ColorStay in 240 Medium Beige, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, Benefit Hervana blush, NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Benefit They’re Real! mascara, Sephora Tiramisu eyeliner, LORAC PRO Palette, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (sample size), Rimmel Stay Matte Powder #012 Buff Beige, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light Pale, Anastasia Brow Powder in Dark Brown, Rimmel Bronzer #021 Sun Light, Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked

In addition to shamelessly snapping photos of myself, I received a package in the mail today filled with shoes I ordered from Urban Outfitters that are way too cool for my feet. As someone who wears flats on a daily basis, I think I am most in love with my new booties, a shoe type I have never owned before.

Who can honestly say no to a “take an extra 50% off clearance” sale? Not me, apparently.

I hope you’re having a great Tuesday. Thank you for reading.
